Environmental Responsibility

SPL’s long-term outlook and investment in operations has led to an industry-leading track record of environmental performance in both our processes and products. Most of our product is sulfur free or have low sulfur (Within government regulation) which keeps environmental pollution controlled. In 2016 SPL awarded from Bangladesh government for contributing in energy sector.

Water
SPL is committed to keep water clean. To ensure oily waste water cleanliness and safety we have API oil separator which is designed to separate oil and suspended solids from the wastewater effluents of oil refineries and petrochemical plants. We have another waste water treatment plant which is used to treat sour water before discharge to environment.

Air emission
We are also concern about keeping atmosphere clean. We have sulfur recovery system from waste gas containing Hydrogen sulphide. Maximum amount of our waste gas/ off gas is used as fuel in our process heaters. Rest amount is released through elevated flare where all hydrocarbon converted to CO2, SO2 and H2O. To reduce heat emission through heater flue gas we have convection zone most of our process heaters.

Environmental monitoring program
We have environmental monitoring system through which we regularly monitor BOD, COD, TDS, PH  and dissolve O2 percentage of waste water. Amount of CO2, CO, SO2 and O2 in flue gas is also monitored regularly to keep the atmosphere clean and safe.
